Friends of Sawnee

The Sawnee Mountain Preserve will require continued maintenance and additions. To help address these needs we have developed the Friends of Sawnee group. This group will function as an additional revenue source for the Mountain supplementing the money budgeted through the Park and Recreation Department. The Friends of Sawnee will also work with the Park and Recreation Department to help with volunteer trail management and preservation.

You can become a friend of Sawnee Mountain. There are 2 ways you can get involved:

Volunteer Projects

The first way to become a friend of Sawnee Mountain is to volunteer youself or your group to help with projects around the mountain. There is plenty of work to be done. Most project take less than a day and it's a great way to develop teamwork. Samples projects include:

Individual
Trail Monitors
Greeters
Interpreters - Nature, cultural, history, science, etc...

Small Group (2-19)
Building Kiosks
Viewing Platforms
Blazing Trails
Creating Trail and Amenities Maps

Large Group (20+)
Trail Clearing and Building
Site Cleanups
Landscaping

Financial Contributions

Even if you can't volunteer for projects, you can still get involved. Development and upkeep of an area the size of Sawnee Mountains is an expensive undertaking and your financial contributions, no matter how large or small, are greatly appreciated. And your contributions are tax deductible as well.
